“Illusion of Reality”, is the title of one of my favorite books, and it is also my belief regarding the achievement of art creation.
Art should be derived from the truth of life, but also go beyond life;
Media artists must respect and follow their authenticity when creating, but they should also preserve beauty and hope in their communication and creation, no matter, sometimes, how cruel the reality of our world is…
My career and life experience allow me to witness some circumstances that affect the artists' ability to maintain their authentic voice. But in addition to artists being influenced by the reality of society, in all cases, society, and the general culture, are influenced and shaped by the media artists.
The question is, in the dynamic tension between media creators and society, who is shaping whom?
My purpose is to discover the balance, and the tension, between media artists and the social reality in which they work.
My wish is that, through consistent studying, researching and exploring, I may come to a realization of the balance of control between media creators themselves and society so they can work in an informed context in order to communicate their truths in the most effective way possible.
