This story, inspired by Chinese folklore, shows a metamorphosis of the protagonist, a rabbit, within the animal kingdom.
The story talks about what cost the character needs to pay when it desperately climbs to the top position of the food chain.
This story uses animals’ story as a metaphor for human's nature and human's realistic world.
It is a story that explores the themes of desire, resistance to destiny, and self-salvation as well.
This film talks about a small animal, rabbit, who belongs to the lowest position of the food train, gains a magical method accidentally and uses it to turn its shape to the bigger and stronger animals, from rabbit to wolf to lion and finally turns into a human.
But during this process, it loses himself, its happiness, conscience, and friendship.
In the end of this story, the “rabbit” gives up the mankind's appearance and obtains its self-salvation for its soul, but the price is to sacrifice its own life.
